Sarah Shares With Rebecca Eckler

If you've ever read The National Post, or The Globe and Mail, you probably know the name Rebecca Eckler.

Well, the other day on her site, she asked her readers to comment on the five most romantic things their boyfriends/partners/lovers/girlfriends have ever done for them. If you want to see la list, visit www.rebeccaeckler.com, go to her post titled Who Is The One You Trust, and click on comments.
Here's the five I gave her. I have enough ego to say my comments, (my man), win.

Maybe the two of us should have a comments posting contest? Loser buys dinner?

So, my loyal, lovely readers, let's see how a real battle royale would go, shall we?

As a trial run, give me your top five romantic things your man/gal has done for you.

(Rebecca's got 20 comments. On your mark. Get set. Comment!)

1. The other day I went to a new mommy power walking group. Not so much for the exercise but to meet new mommies. I told my boyfriend I wanted to meet a new best friend, someone with a baby I could gab with, cry to, relate to. Within seconds of being there, I realized these women, as lovely as they may be, were not going to fill the position. I told the BF "I need a new best friend!" He looked at me and said: "Sarah, you already have a best friend right here."

2. He hung a mirrorball over our heads in our bedroom so that we can always live under the stars, the most magical place in the world.

3. Seven weeks ago, when we brought Little Man home from hospital, I got in the car and discovered he'd hung a baby mirrorball from the rearview mirror. "I want our son to always live under the stars, too," he said.

4. The other day at Costco, we walked past a salsa music display. The BF put down our 80-pound brick of cheese, 100-pack of NutriGrain bars and the scone samples he was holding, and started spinning me around the store. (That's huge because he loovvess the free samples!)

5. He had a baby with me at age 47, so he has one child going to university next fall, one child going into high school and one child going into day care. And maybe there are more to come ...

My wife is wildly romantic. My list is much bigger than five, but here's five that come right to mind:

1/ She blindfolded me, put me in the car and drove us to a local hotel, where she had booked a whirlpool suite. She brought wine and chocolate cake. This was her fix on a late night when we were both feeling an urge for a drink and something sweet.

2/ On my birthday, we went for a drive in the country, ending up at a historic B&B restaurant where we ate in a beautiful, Victorian dining room, capping our dinner with fabulous creme brulee. After dinner, I headed for the car but was stopped by my sweetie and redirected upstairs to a room. Gifts and goodies were waiting for me.

3/After she learned that I loved Tic Tac, I arrived at work one day to find about 35 little plastic packages of Tic Tac carpeting my office. There were all over my desk, computer, in my drawers, everywhere.

4/ Almost every day for weeks, she would steal a handful of my business cards and scrawl a few words around my printed name to create a sexy or romantic message. She'd put the cards back in the stack where she found them, or drop them indiscriminately where others could see them.

5/On another birthday, I arrived home to find more than half a dozen birthday cards around the livingroom. She said she couldn't pick just one to convey her feelings for me.

1.On a vacation to the East Coast,my 2nd half routinely took me to seafood restaurants so I could enjoy the local delights each day (sometimes twice!),even though he hates mussels and the like immensely. His reward would routinely be a hot hamburger sandwich! 2.He once bought me this gigantic bag of gum which he left on my desk at work. P.S. He loves gum! 3.One year he bought me a "family ring" with all our bithstones in it. Precious! 4.On a Family flight to Florida he stayed au all night in the airport while we slept so that we would be first in line to get prime seats in the "observation deck" (upper level) of the Wardair flight we took . 5.He watches C.S.I., Law and Order and other favourites with me even though he is not a big fan.

My husband sends me flowers. He makes coffee for me in the morning,as he is retired and I am not yet.On cold mornings, he scrapes my windshield. When I arrive home tired from work, he has dinner ready for me. He is ready to listen to my worries and concerns at the end of the day.

My boyfriend tucks me in every night before I go to bed(I'm not a night owl), and has done that every night we've been together. I always wake up the next morning positive, and ready to take on the day.
